About Agni College of Technology
It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. It was earlier known as Vel's Srinivasa College of Engineering and Technology. It has gained the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
Sri Balaji Charitable and Educational Trust launched Agni College of Technology Chennai in 2001. The engineering college is certified by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, affiliated with Anna University in Chennai, and approved by the AICTE in New Delhi. It is also an institution with an ISO 9001:2015 certification. The college is located in Thalambur, Chennai, off the Old Mahabalipuram Road (IT Highway), 20 kilometres from Adyar and 3 km from Navalur. The campus is equipped with well-designed lecture halls, labs, workshops, a modern computer centre, and a library with a large collection of publications. The counselling code for this college is 1316.
Courses and admissions The college provides roughly 15 Undergraduate programmes and 6 Graduate programmes, and Anna University's admission requirements apply to this course. The candidates should have average total marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry to be a minimum of 50% for OC, 45% for BC, and 40% for MBC for H.Sc., academic, vocational, and diploma holders (for lateral admission).
Sports and Library facilities The college features top-notch athletic facilities, including an indoor stadium designed for international levels that is capable of hosting sports like squash, basketball, badminton, and table tennis. Boys and females can attend gymnasiums. The library is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has about 71,670 book volumes and 9,631 titles that aid students in their research and study. Numerous disciplines also provide NPTEL video lectures. The intranet on campus can be used to access this facility.
Hostel Facilities There are separate hostels for boys and girls available with ample space available in each room with sufficient storage areas. Hostels are equipped with the latest kitchen, spacious dining hall, reading room with journals, newspapers, etc., The study hour is followed from 8.30 pm to 10 pm. Study hours are mandatory n the hostel from 6 PM to 7.30 PM for girls and 6.30 PM to 8.00 PM for boys.
Training and Placements The Department of Training and Placement helps in getting students ready for campus interviews. It also arranges industry internships, guest lectures, and in-plant training for the students. The top recruiters at the college include some of the well-known multinational companies like Cognizant, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, etc., just to name a few.
