About Bhadrak Autonomous College
Bhadrak Autonomous College having a sprawling campus of 27 Acres is located in the headquarters of Bhadrak district in the state of Orissa. It is situated at a distance of 142 kms. away from the State Capital Bhubaneswar. The College stands approximately 1 km. awayJrom National Highway No.5 and 4 kms. away from Bhadrak Railway Station under the East Coast Division of Indian Railways.
Bhadrak College came into existence on 6th July, 1948 in Bhadrak town. Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab, the former Chief Minister of Orissa and ex-Governor of Maharastra was the founder of the college. Started with courses in Intermediate of Arts (IA) with affiliation to Utkal University, Degree courses in Humanities and Arts were introduced in 1951. Intermediate of Science in 1955 and B.Sc courses in 1960 had been introduced make the college in full length.
Now the college rose to the extent of imparting education in subjects like English, Economics, Commerce, History, Political Science, Education, Psychology, Home Science, Sociology, Philosophy, Oriya, Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Computer Science. Post graduate courses in Economic, Mathematics, Physics, Commerce and English have been introduced subsequently. B.Sc in Computer Science was introduced as a Self - financing subject and there is much competition for the course as it has a minimum guarantee of securing job in IT field. Campus placements from various companies in Odisha are available here. It has become one of the best colleges in the state of Odisha with an autonomous status given in 2002.
It has very good infrastructure. Three computer laboratories, Science laboratories, a library with good collection of readings and a large playground with an indoor stadium are available. The alumni of this college are well settled in prestigious positions including the central and state secretariats.
