About Sree Narayana College
Arts and Science Collage
Sree Narayana College started in 1981 in Chengannur and is considered as a reputed college for higher education. The name of the college is given in the honour of the saint Sree Narayana Gurudev, who was also a great social reformer. Currently, the college is offering 2 postgraduate and 5 undergraduate level courses in different streams. Apart from these, some research-based courses are also available for interested students.
The college affiliated to the Kerala University can be reached by buses from Chengannur KSRTC Bus stand.
FacilitiesThe college facilities include a high-class gym for the physical growth of the students. This facility can be used by the students only after 3.30 PM. The students from the sports stream are given extra time to work-out in the gym.
The very important part of any academic institution is its classrooms and here the classrooms are very advanced with all audio-visual facilities installed in them. Interactive boards and projectors are additional features of these classrooms having around 30 seats in each.
The college also provides computer facilities and each department is having computers with internet connection for the students. There are separate computer labs for physics, chemistry and commerce departments having 25 computers with internet and the students can avail of this service at no additional cost.
The library is big and is available on all working days from 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM. There are some predefined rules of the library, like books from the reference section cannot be issued, only 2 books can be issued at a time against a single ID card that too only for 2 weeks. This ID card or the borrower's card is issued at the library only.
The college campus is having Wi-Fi connectivity all around the campus and students are allowed to use this service within the campus.
For the accommodation of girl students, there is a ladies hostel within the campus that can accommodate around 30 girls. The warden and deputy warden are appointed to look after the management and security of the girls. A big mess is there for serving meals to the girls.
Admissions and ScholarshipsCandidates looking forward to admission in Sree Narayana College need to apply online at the Kerala University website. Having applied, all the required documents and prescribed fees need to be paid at the college office before the session starts. A migration certificate is mandatory for the students coming from other universities.
The college provides financial support to students belonging to the financially backward families and offers tuition fee concessions if the annual income of the parents is less than Rs 100,000/-. In graduate and postgraduate courses, if a student scores 45% or higher, he may also get fee concession but the income of the parents must be within the income limit specified by the college. The students are also able to get Kerala State Scholarship but again that income limit needs to be checked.
