In starting this center was located near Lal Darwaja,Ahmedabad. Thereafter, in the year 1967 revenue new land was allotted at khanpur and the institute building was constructed which is known as Barfiwala Bhavan,Ahmedabad.
There are six classrooms, one AC conference hall with Audio visual aids, Library, Laboratory and office having 13 cabins for officers and office space for other staff members. Totally 35 staff members are at present working at this center.
They have a Computer Department at Ahmedabad regional center.Their computer center is one of the training centers of Gujarat Knowledge Society (GKS) & Society.Here, specially customized short term courses are prepared that can be easily provided to the common man at a nominal rate and they gain more knowledge in less rate.
All India Institute of Local Self Government aims to encourage the young students of standard 10, 12 and the students of college.The staff of the center is well trained.

Recently the All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) arranged the International Conference on the topic "PEOPLE, PLACES AND OPPORTUNITIES TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE CITIES – 2030"
