About Vidya Pratishthan's Commerce and Science College Indapur, Pune
Vidya Pratishthan's Commerce and Science College has a picturesque campus located at Indapur in Pune district of Maharastra. Indapur is a town with historical significance. The place was the Jagir of both Shivaji Maharaj's father and grandfather. The great Maratha leader's grandfather Malojiraje lived and died in a battle at this very place itself. Though Indapur comes in Pune district, it is located around 135 km from Pune city. It is, however, closer to Baramati, another important city in Pune district. Baramati is around 45 km or about a one-hour drive from Indapur.
Set up in 2008 in a sprawling 70 acres of land, the college is now a popular science and commerce college in the region. Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, it provides for undergraduate courses in computer science, computer applications and business administration. With modern infrastructure and facilities at its campus and hostels, students here get the best of the learning atmosphere.
Infrastructure Vidya Pratishthan's Commerce and Science College uses the latest in technology in its classrooms and laboratories. Every classroom is digitally enabled with smart class features, audio-visual aids, and computer networking. MOOC or Massive Open Online Course is an online learning facility through which students here can access the best courses from the top universities in the world. The laboratories are well equipped and ICT enabled. A language lab specifically trains the students in English language conversation skills. A media room has been set up at the college that regularly comes up with various creative ways to enhance the learning process and screens high-quality video lectures.
The college library has a good collection of books, magazines, journals, and e-resources. The OPAC or the Online Public Access Catalog helps manage the books held by the library. By means of ‘Vriddhi', an automated software, one can easily search books by their title, author, or publisher. The library also arranges for book exhibitions from time to time. There is an Earn and Learn Scheme, by which four students in every academic year can earn some money by working in the different sections of the library.
The college has a start-up cell that helps the students in coming up with innovative ideas and incubating them. There is a training and placement cell too that provides students with the necessary training in aspects such as aptitude tests and interview questions while seeking placement with leading tech companies in the country like TCS.
Among extracurricular activities, the college has provisions for sports & games as well as cultural events. Students can also volunteer for joining the NSS.
The campus has hostels for both boys and girls, with a dining mess as well as a gymnasium. Among the other facilities available on the campus is a community centre, canteen, an amphitheatre, lawns and gardens.
Admissions For admissions at Vidya Pratishthan's Commerce and Science College, students may fill up the inquiry form that is given at the home page of the college website. The admission form is also available at the college website along with details to fill-up the form. Students may fill it and submit it at the college office along with necessary documents like 10th and 12th mark sheet, pass certificates, Aadhaar card, passport photos, transfer certificate, and caste certificate, if applicable. Scholarships are available to the needy and deserving students both in the open and the reserved category. A couple of non-government scholarship schemes are Lila Poonawala Foundation Scholarship for girls and Medhavi National Scholarship Scheme.
