|A V C Polytechnic was founded in the year 1983 by the Anbanathapuram Vahayara Charities (A.V.C.) Trust, Mayiladuthurai. With a modest start, today it is conducting Diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, Computer Technology, Information Technology & Communication, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering with a total intake of about 660 students.|
FacilitiesThe college is having technical laboratories in various streams like Civil, Computer, Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical, and IT where students can acquire practical training.
There is a spacious library where various books and reference materials like Journals, Magazines, Students Project Reports, Model Question Papers are made available to the students. Computer facilities are available in the library.
There are good sports facilities in the college where all major games and sports are made available and students are encouraged to make use of them, practice, and participate in sports tournaments.
Guest lectures are arranged from time to time in various disciplines and students are taken to the industry visits for practical exposure related to their stream.
The college is having a placement cell that helps students to get placement in the companies which come to the institute for campus interviews or otherwise directly also. It has a good record of placement in the past in various companies especially companies that are present in Tamil Nadu.
There are other activities and facilities in the college like NSS, Red Ribbon Club, Alumni Association, Bank, Cafeteria, Health center, etc.
AdmissionsThe interested candidates have to apply in the prescribed admission form of the college submitting it with copies of all the documents mentioned therein. The basic eligibility to apply for these 3 years Diploma courses is a pass in class 10 (SSLC) or any other qualification as approved by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Tamil Nadu. The students who have passed in class 10 and also have a 2 years ITI qualification can apply directly for the second year of these Diploma courses as per the prevailing Lateral Entry System.
The reservation policy is followed in the admissions and there are reservations for different categories like SC/ST-19%, BC-26.5%, OC-31%, Muslim-3.5%, and MBC-20%.
The admissions are given under the Merit Quota or Management Quota as per the choice of the candidates. Under the merit quota, the admissions will be granted strictly on merit-based upon the marks obtained in the qualifying examination while under the management quota it will be done directly. The selected students will be called for a counseling session where their original documents will be verified before giving them the final admission and then they can deposit the fees also. The fee is Rs 17500 per semester.
