About Vasavi College of Engineering
Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad is one of the best engineering colleges in the state of Telangana. It is one of those colleges which are most preferred by students desirous of studying engineering in the region. Located at a picturesque location in the suburbs of Hyderabad, it has a vast campus that stretches over 13 acres of sprawling land. In existence since 1981, it presently ranks 3rd among all engineering colleges in the state. Located close to the ruins of the famed Golconda Fort, it has a beautiful campus with lush green lawns and modern buildings.
Affiliated to Osmania University Hyderabad, Vasavi College of Engineering offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The disciplines available for the UG courses are – Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, IT, ECE and EEE. The courses are all approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
Infrastructure With the latest in facilities, the classrooms at Vasavi are all smart and ICT enabled. Many of the rooms, including laboratories and seminar halls, are equipped with LCD projectors, audio systems, digital boards and internet connectivity. The rooms are all spacious and well-ventilated. It has language labs that impart communication and interpersonal skills to the students. Considering that many students may later seek an overseas job or higher education, there are opportunities for students to improve upon their phonetics and pronunciation skills in the English language.
The library and the computer centre are all well-equipped. Enabled with digital facilities, the Learning Resource Centre or the Central Library has around 13,000 titles and more than 1,00,000 volumes of books. The library itself has a number of computers, all of which have internet connectivity. The computer centre provides for two computer labs and connects the entire campus, every department and all the systems through a high-speed internet network. There is also a Wi-Fi facility that can be utilized at the college canteen, seminar halls, conference halls, placement rooms, library and a few other places.
Exclusively for the girl students and the ladies staff, there are common rooms or waiting rooms. These are equipped with furniture, washrooms, water coolers and even beds & linen for the students to rest in case of sickness. A health centre with a certified nurse also helps in this respect. For emergency medical care, there is a first-aid facility available at every laboratory and a few strategic locations. An ambulance is available round-the-clock. A medical practitioner and a nursing assistant are also available within the college premises. For the differently-abled, there are various kinds of facilities like lifts, ramps, Braille software, restrooms and scribes for writing exams.
Among other facilities, there is a cafeteria and a bank. There is a media centre with a recording facility. There is a large field with facilities for playing a number of sports like basketball, cricket, volleyball, football, kabaddi, athletics, badminton, table tennis, etc. There are many intra-college and inter-college competitions at regular intervals. There are various cultural fests and cultural activities organized at the college. Euphoria – The cultural fest and Kriti- The annual art exhibition are the hallmark events at Vasavi. Various activity clubs like art club, eco-club, dramatics club, math club, toastmasters club, etc. provide the necessary fillip for the overall development of the students. The college also provides bus service from a number of locations in Hyderabad.
Admissions Admissions at Vasavi are through an entrance test. For UG admissions, 70% of the seats are filled on the basis of rankings in the state-level TSEAMCET exam. 30% of the seats are filled by the management as per the guidelines by the State and the educational council. PG admissions are also through entrance tests like TSEAMCET or GATE and follow the same criteria as applicable for UG admissions.
