About Khalsa College Amritsar
Khalsa College was started in 1892 and is one of the prestigious institutes for higher education in Amritsar. It is re-accreditated with Grade ‘A' by NAAC and even has acquired the title of “College with Potential for Excellence" by UGC. The college is affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and also has ISO certification. Talking about the streams available here, there are courses from Physiotherapy, Agriculture, Computer Science, Social Science, Commerce & Business Administration, and Humanities.
FacilitiesThe college campus is a beautiful one and is occupied by other institutional buildings including Khalsa College of Education, Khalsa College Girls High School, Khalsa College Public School and Khalsa College of Pharmacy on an area of around 330 acres. The building of Khalsa College has 2 parts. The eastern side is having Canteen, Library, Postgraduate and Biotechnology blocks whereas the western side is having Chemistry, Physics, and Computer blocks.
The library is completely computerized and uses barcodes for the books. There are laboratories for different subjects, e-Government Cell, Placement Cell, Career Guidance Cell, Department of Sikh history, & Museum and Student Activity Centre to fulfill their respective purposes.
The campus has accommodation facilities in the form of separate hostels for girls and boys. There are 5 boy's hostels – Faridkot, Nabha, Jind, New Jind, and Hargobind and 5 girls' hostels having a capacity to accommodate more than 800 students. The campus is rich with many unique facilities for students, including a fruit farm, gurudwara and gym.
A cricket stadium, swimming pool and separate facilities for outdoor games like Basketball, Football, Hockey, Volleyball and Athletics are also available inside the campus.
ActivitiesThe college supports many social and cultural activities throughout the year. There is a Department of Youth Welfare and Cultural Activities that supports all such events inside and outside the college.
NCC is also functional in the college with an aim to impart qualities like punctuality, confidence, patriotism, team-work, etc. There are 3 wings of NCC - Naval Wing, Army Wing and Air Wing. Students can choose any one of them as per their interest at the time of Admission.
There are 4 separate units of NSS, each with around 100 candidates working voluntarily. These units basically work for social issues and creating awareness about the same. They also conduct regular camps for blood donation, health check-ups, etc.
AdmissionsAdmissions can be availed online after registering yourself at the college website. After registration, candidates need to proceed with filling all the details on the Application Form available on the website.
The list of required documents is mentioned below :
- A scanned copy of recent passport size photo with size not more than 300kb.
- A scanned copy of signature with size 300kb or less.
- A scanned copy of 10th Marksheet.
- A scanned copy of 12th Marksheet.
- A scanned copy of Aadhar Card.
- Softcopy of Border Area Certificate, Graduation Mark Sheets, and Rural Area Certificate, if applicable.
