About St. Thomas College of Teacher Education
St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, Pala was established in 1957 as one of the pioneer institutions in the field of teacher education. It is the first teacher education institution to be reaccredited with A+ grade by NAAC(National Assessment Accreditation council 2007) in the state of Kerala.
The college was started to meet a precise need, ie, to train teachers for the secondary & Higher Secondary schools in our country. This idea was conceived and was made into reality by the then Bishop of the diocese of Palai, His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Sebastian Vayalil, the founder & first patron of our institution. The college offers B.Ed., M.Ed. and T.T.C. Degree course with six optional subjects. The college also offers MBA and B.Ed programmes under the IGNOU convergence scheme.
This institution is owned and run by the Catholic Diocese of Palai, and is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
