Hindusthan College of Arts and Science was established in the year 1998 and is run by the Hindusthan Educational and Charitable Trust (HECT). It is an autonomous college and is affiliated to Bharathiyar University. The institution has received its approval from AICTE and the Government of Tamil Nadu. The college is certified with an ISO certification and is also accredited by NAAC. The college offers technical education to the students in various departments. The institution has good infrastructure and experienced faculty members. The college has a placement cell which helps the students to get good job as per their education.
Academics The college offers 18 UG programmes, 13 PG programmes. The departments that are actively operating in the college are English, Commerce, Corporate Secretaryship, Banking and Insurance, Costume Design and Fashion Technology (CDF), Visual Communication (VC), IT ,Computer Technology, Maths, Microbiology, Biotechnology, etc. The also offers research programmes to the students in M.Phil and Ph.D.
Clubs and Associations The college encourages the students to participate in the club and the association activities to improve their skills and talent. The clubs that are actively operating the college are NSS, Quiz club, health club, eco club, drama club, yoga club, rotract club, humor club, sports club, culinary club, crafts club, film club, photo club, fine arts club, Quantitative club, EDC, Business line, Computer club, Corporate club, HR club, junior chamber club, journalism club and Music club. All the clubs conducts many events and competitions to improve the talent of the students.
The students of the college are given training in tennis, badminton, volleyball, cricket, football, and ball badminton, Karate, Taekwondo and Body building. The college conducts annual sports meet to bring out the hidden sports talent of the students.
Infrastructure The college campus covers an area of 8.5 acres. The college has 4 blocks - A, B, C and D with spacious and airy classrooms. Each floor in all the blocks is fitted with purified drinking water facilities. Elevator facilities are available for physically challenged students. A language lab is available for the students to improve their language competency skills. Well-equipped laboratories with latest equipment are available for the students of Biotechnology, Microbiology, Visual Communication and Costume Designing and Fashion technology. The computer and IT department students are provided with separate computer lab facilities. The department of Visual Communication has latest digital cameras, handy cameras and photo studio. The department of CDF has sewing machines and equipment for printing and dyeing. The department of catering and hotel management has a modern kitchen with necessary appliances.
The college provides free Internet facility to the students and the students can also access the computer lab after college hours. The college library has nearly 33,736 books and 106 journals and magazines. The library is fully automated and has many digital resources for the easy access of the books. Separate hostel facilities are available for the boys and girls with both Veg and Non veg food. The college campus has nearly 6 cafeterias. The canteen provides healthy and hygienic veg food, non-veg food, cool drinks and snacks. The college also has playground facilities, gym and courts for tennis and badminton.
