About Indian Institute of Management, Kashipur
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur is located in Uttarakhand. Established in 2011 it is one of the second-generation IIMs in India. Like other IIMs, it is an autonomous institute that offers a number of programs in management such as Master of Business Administration (MBA), Executive MBA, Ph.D. in management, and also some online certificate programs on executive development. Its executive programs are popular with working professionals and the institute has an understanding with a number of organizations, both from the industry and the government for conducting weekend programs for middle and senior-level executives. It also has partnerships with many leading management institutes across the world. Students at IIM Kashipur get exposed to management education at these world-renowned institutes through various student exchange programs. Some of these business schools are Tel Aviv University Israel, Aalborg University Denmark, Linnaeus University Sweden, ESDES Lyon France, University of Lima Peru, and many more.
Infrastructure and facilities IIM Kashipur has a 200-acre big campus located in the serene surroundings of the Himalayas. For its location, it is also popularly known as the ‘IIM in the north'. The institute has a strategic geographical location as the Udham Singh Nagar district, where it is located, is home to a large number of industries that provide the much-needed connection with the industry sector and opportunities for live projects for the students.
As in every IIM, the institute has state-of-the-art buildings, classrooms, a library, seminar halls, auditoriums, and hostels. The library itself is located in a spacious building and has a collection of more than 9,000 books that are mostly on management and related fields. Apart from the books, there are journals, e-journals, CDROMs/DVDs, case studies, reports, and audio-visual equipment. Fully computerized, it has high-speed internet and intranet connectivity.
The campus is student-driven, where all activities including placements are managed by the students themselves. The canteens and the messes are also completely managed by the students thus giving them practical experience in management at the most basic level that comes in handy when they graduate into the corporate world. There is a balanced mix of academics with various non-academic activities like sports, cultural activities, club activities, entrepreneurship pursuits, and many more. Some of the flagship events are the management conclave, TEDx, and Agnitraya, the annual fest.
The campus has good medical facilities. A visiting doctor comes to the institute six days a week. A paramedic and pharmacist are available the whole day. A night ambulance is kept on standby to meet medical emergencies. Tie-ups are there with a number of nearby hospitals. Every student is medically insured and all treatments at the hospitals are borne by the insuring agency.
Admissions Admissions to the MBA programs at IIM Kashipur are mostly through the Common Admission Test (CAT). Eligible postgraduate candidates with valid CAT scores can apply for admission. Candidates are shortlisted based on their CAT score and previous academic performances beginning from matriculation. Final selections are done by interviewing the shortlisted candidates. Job experience, if any, is preferable.
For the Executive MBA programs, which are mainly for working professionals and executives, the candidates have to sit for a separate Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT). Selections are based on the test scores.
For admission to Ph.D. programs, eligible candidates are to sit for the IIMB Test conducted online by IIM Bangalore.
