About Industrial Design Centre(IDC)
Industrial Design Center was set up in 1969 by the Government of India under the Indian institute of technology Bombay.
Aims and objectives put down by the committee for formation of the center were:
"The aim of the Industrial Design Center is to prepare students to enter into new creative activities as professional industrial designers who with experience and maturity can reach the highest level of design practice, research and development necessary for the industry".
The design center was developed with the aim of developing the country in the field of designing by exploiting its natural raw talent,and giving them a cutting edge technology and professional guidance.
The center has directed its concentration on achieving its goals through education,practice and propagation.The projects carried out by the students reflect the work and professionalism.
The most reputed programs include Masters of Design in
1)Industrial Design since 1980
2)Visual Communication,since 1984.
3)Interaction Design,
4)Animation Design,
5)Mobility and Vehicle Design,
6)A Doctoral level programme in Design has begun from July 2005.
