About GITAM Institute Of Science
GITAM Institute of Science is part of the GITAM University campus at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The first science courses at GITAM were started with the M.Sc Environmental Studies programme in 1995, which was funded by the UGC. Over the years, as the institute grew in stature, a number of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs were added to the list, including a few, dual degree integrated programmes. Two of its popular programs, the five-year integrated M.Sc Chemistry and the B.Sc Chemistry (Honours) courses are being sponsored by industry giants in the pharmaceutical sector, Dr Reddy's Labs and Laurus Labs.
Programs and courses GITAM Institute of Science offers bachelor and master degree programs mainly in the field of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer applications, statistics, biochemistry, microbiology, food technology and data science. With a focus on research, the institute also offers numerous M.Phil and PhD programmes. Many of the research programmes being undertaken by the PhD scholars here are funded by some of the top government organizations like UGC, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and so on. Top organisations like Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), ICRISAT, Institute of Chemical Technology and many foreign universities from the United States and elsewhere are associated with the institute for exchange programmes that involve both students and faculty. The institute has thus the best research facilities at all its laboratories.

Facilities and infrastructure The GITAM campus, with its serene and picturesque surroundings, provides the best of the facilities to its students. The classrooms, laboratories, library, auditorium, seminar halls and hostels have the most modern features. There is plenty of scope for co-curricular and extracurricular activities like cultural fests, tech fests, sports, athletics, health & wellness camps and so on. A number of clubs are there at GITAM that help the students in nurturing their talent in one or the other field. Those staying outside the campus but within city limits are provided with transport facilities.
Admissions For admissions at GITAM Institute of Science, candidates should have at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. The candidates will have to apply and appear for the GITAM Science Admission Test (GSAT), dates for which are published on the institute website. The application for GSAT is to be done online by visiting the website. Selections are done based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the admission test. Foreign students can also apply for admission at GITAM. However, they have to do it through the GITAM Directorate of International Affairs (GDIA), which facilitates easy admission of international students.
