About Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences
Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust (Regd.) was started in the year 1973 with the objective of rendering social, charitable, educational and medical services blended with spiritualism to the people of Karnataka, India and even for NRI community of the world over under the stewardship of the pontiff of Sri Adichunchanagiri Math jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagandadarnatha Maha Swamiji who is also the President of the Trust.
AIMS is premier rural educational institution catering to the health needs of the rural populace in preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative domains beside teaching and training for Undergraduate (UG) of MBBS and Post Graduate (PG) students
Infrastructure and Facilities The college campus is situated adjacent to the hospital and is having spacious classrooms. There are separate staff rooms, an office Superintendent Room, the Principal's office, etc. Separate common rooms with attached washrooms for boys and girls and a canteen are also there in the college.
There are advanced five lecture theatres with enough seats available to support advanced learning. An air-conditioned auditorium with the capacity to accommodate around 2000 people at a time is there on the campus. It is occupying 2986square meters of the area, including a stage with an advanced audio-video facility attached to it.
An examination hall with 380 seats and demonstration rooms in all the clinical departments is available for medical demonstrations. These rooms are having advanced instruments and proper seating arrangements as per the requirement. There are well-set seminar rooms cum library also in each of the clinical demonstration rooms of the college.
The laboratories are very advanced and are well equipped with all the required instruments and techniques to carry on various diagnostic procedures and learning. All the departments have their own separate laboratories. An open canteen facility is available with both North Indian and South Indian food at very reasonable rates.
There is a BGS Stadium on the campus where various outdoor games can be enjoyed including Volleyball, Cricket, etc. Facilities for indoor games like Chess, Badminton, and Table Tennis are also available.
For transportation purposes, the college has 4 buses to pick up and drop the students from hostel and hospitals. These buses are also used to commute between other training and teaching centers for the students.
Learning Resource Centre Apart from all the departmental libraries, there is a central library named learning Resource Centre. It is having Wi-Fi connectivity and is centrally air-conditioned. It is situated towards the east of the college and is occupying around 3000 square meters of area. This library can be used on all the weekdays from 9 a.m. up to 10 p.m., and on Sundays, it can be used from 9 a.m. up to 5 p.m. The attached reading room is available throughout the day.
This learning center has around 30000 books from different subjects and formats. It has an excellent collection of Directories, Encyclopedias, Atlases, Dictionaries, and many more. It also has subscriptions to around 112 journals and magazines including national and international publications.
The Digital part of this center has 50 systems with an internet facility where students can access e-books, e-journals, and many other educational materials as per their requirements. It has Koha software to offer easy access by students and staff. Orientation programs, webinars, workshops, etc get conducted every year at the Learning Resource Centre for students, researchers, and staff to make them familiar with various research tools and educational platforms.
AdmissionsUG admissions-: The college offers MBBS degrees to 150 students every year. There are 60 seats reserved for the Government quota, 60 seats are reserved for the KPCF quota, and 30 seats for the Management quota. For admission, students must qualify through the NEET exam. The age of the applicant must be 17 years or more at the time of admission. Final admissions are offered through KEA Combined Centralized Counselling. PG admissions: For admissions in PG courses, 33% seats are reserved for the government, 42% seats are for COMED K and 25% seats are for management students. Below is the list of documents required for admissions-
