About Hindustan Aviation Academy
The Academy conducts 3 years Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course (AME), which is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India. It has an annual intake of 120 students. The course is organized in six semesters and during the final semester students are sent for practical training to reputed airlines. On completion of six semesters and after clearing three DGCA examinations students are awarded the Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License (BAMEL) which qualify them for employment in Civil Airlines.
Civil Aviation Authority issues certificates of Airworthiness to private and commercial aircraft which are in fully serviceable condition at all times. To certify that maintenance is carried out on aircraft and it is fully serviceable, only qualified persons called Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, who are issued with license in a particular category by the Civil Aviation Dept, are only allowed. The academy prepare the students to appear for different categories of the DGCA examinations, in the "Mechanical" And "Avionics" stream.
