About Army Institute of Nursing
Established in August 2006 at the Basistha Base Hospital in Guwahati, Assam, the Army Institute of Nursing (AIN) provides professional courses in Nursing Sciences for female students. AIN is affiliated to Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam, and is also recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi and Assam Nurses Midwives and Health Visitors Council. There are 45 seats exclusively for the wards of Army personnel and five for civilian students of North-East States. Students get first-hand practical experiences to support the methodical curriculum that is followed as per INC guidelines. Students aspire to win the coveted scholarships and awards for academic excellence in the university exams, including a special Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Rolling Trophy for the all-round Best Student of the graduating batch.
On the AIN campus Other than the classrooms, there are computer labs, a library and Labs with advanced Nursing mannequins, CPR mannequins & Pediatric mannequins to help students develop skills in basic and advanced nursing procedures.
Students who are pursuing undergraduate nursing courses have a dedicated hostel at Narangi Military Station with two students to a room. The hostel mess provides nutritious food and indoor recreational facilities are also available. For postgraduate students, hostel accommodation may be provided only if there are vacant rooms. Students are expected to adhere to the rules, maintain dignified behavior, and be self-disciplined in every way.
How to get admission to AIN Those who seek admission to the first year of AIN's B.Sc Nursing Degree course have to appear for a Written Admission Test (WAT) that is conducted by HQ AWES, New Delhi. Scores of WAT are then considered for admission, with the meritorious students getting preference.
In the case of the AIN's M.Sc. Nursing course, students must appear for an entrance exam that is conducted at two centers, one in Delhi and the other at Guwahati.
