About College A few dedicated Arya Samaj members came forward in 1946 to establish this college at its present location in Ludhiana. A separate Girls Wing of the college was started in the year 1970 to focus on the education of girls in the city. The college is affiliated to Panjab University Chandigarh and is currently run by Arya Vidya Parishad, Punjab (Regd.), the educational wing of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Punjab (Regd.), Gurudutt Bhawan, Chowk Kishanpura, Jalandhar. The mission of Arya College is to create overall exceptional students, focusing both on the educational and holistic development of students, as enunciated in Arya Samaj by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. The college is among the top-rated colleges in cities in and around Ludhiana.
Academics Arya College offers various undergraduate courses for boys and postgraduate courses for both boys and girls. The cut-off for B.Com courses is usually relatively high to other colleges present in Ludhiana. The teaching faculty and staff are helpful and supportive. Though the administration is trying, it has failed to bring good companies to the campus for placements. The placement ratio of college is very less.
Infrastructure The main college building is located in Civil Lines, near the famous Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. The Girls Wing of the college is located in a separate building near the college. The Wi-Fi enabled campus is spread over about 10 acres and is surrounded by Kundan Vidya Mandir School, DAV School and residential houses and shops. The green campus has science laboratories having all the modern equipment, a library having sufficient books for the students, a computer centre which is ICT enabled, and large playgrounds for all major sports. The other attractions in the college campus include a state-of-the-art auditorium, a seminar room equipped with ACs and an advanced audio mike system and a gymnasium hall for the good health of the students.
Alumni Many graduates of this college have achieved great heights in their lives bringing laurels to the whole country and the college. Political leaders like Sh. Sharnjit Singh Dhillon, Sh. Bharat Bhushan Ashu (Cabinet Minister of Punjab), Sh. Balkar Singh Sandhu (Mayor of Ludhiana) has made the city proud. International sportspersons like S. Sukhbir Singh Grewal, S. Hardeep Singh Grewal, Sh. Parvesh Kumar and Sh. Yash Pal Sharma has brightened the name of India in the whole world.
