About Kunthavai Naacchiaar Govt.Arts College for Women

Government of Tamilnadu decided to provide arts college for women in the surrounding area of Thanjavur. The college was established in the year of 1966 with the name of Government Arts College For Woman.After that it is changed to Kunthavai Naacchiaar Govt. Arts College for Women to remember the memories of the Sister of King Raja Raja Solan.The king sister name is Kunthavai Naacchiaar.

Initially the college setup was done in the Thanjavur palace. Year by Year more courses are added to the college and the palace not sufficient to accommodate the students. So government provided separate college campus in the year of 1970.

The college initially affiliated to the Madras University after the to Bharathidasan University from the year of 1982.It is one of the best women's college in Tamilnadu.

The colleges offers 14 UG 11PG &8 Ph.d courses.
