About Institute of Mathematical Sciences
The Institute of Mathematical Science was established in the year 1962 in Chennai. It is a national institution which focuses on fundamental research in Mathematics, Theoretical computer science and Physical Sciences. The members of the institute are researchers, graduate students and post graduate fellow members. The research at IMSc is supported by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Department of Atomic Energy. The institute admits the students in graduate programme, postdoctoral research and summer student programme every year. IMSc conducts several international and national scientific meetings and seminars every year.
Infrastructure IMSc is located in the Adayar-Taramani area of South Chennai. The campus is based on the surroundings of Central Institute of Technology (CIT) campus. The institute has a new spacious lecture hall complexes, seminar rooms, lounges and auditorium with WiFi-enabled. The Ramanujan auditorium which is present inside the campus is used for conducting scientific meetings, seminars and lectures. The E-library of the institute has many supporting online resources for research purposes. The computer facilities with the necessary software and the hardware suitable for the research programmes are available for the fellows of the institute with high speed internet connection. The institute campus itself has a student hostel, flats for married students, post-doctoral fellows and long term visitors. - Soundharya
