About Institute of Life Sciences
Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), is an autonomous institute. The institute started the journey in the year 1989. In initial years, the institute was given fund by Department of Science and Technology, Government of Orissa. In the year 2002, Government of India took the institute under the fold of the Department of Biotechnology. In 2003, the institute was declared as "National Centre for Excellence" by the, then Prime Minister of India, Mr. Atal Bihari Vaypayee. The institute promotes research in the basic and translational areas of life sciences.
Courses offered The institute offers Ph.D and pre-Ph.D. course. The pre-Ph.D. coursework is running under the guidance of Utkal University. For admission in Ph.D. candidates need to appear in a two-tier interview.
Location The college is at the distance of 15 km from airport. The nearest landmark to the college is Kalinga Hospital and Hotel Suryansh. One may also hire auto/taxi from the railway station to reach the college.
