The college is offering 3 year under graduate degree course in Arts, Science & Commerce as well as Post Graduate courses in Geology. The oldest institution of its kind to come up in the Steel City Durgapur, Durgapur Government College has moved from its initial modest intake capacity of 150 students to that of around 3,500 students at present.

The college is situated within a sprawling campus, which includes staff quarters, a playground & plentiful greenery.

The fundamental objectives of this institution are to help students to manifest their latent potential, not only on academics but also in extra- curricular pursuits. Students of this institution excel in the university ex-animation every year.

The name of this college is "Durgapur Government College" and not Durgapur "Govt" College. Govt. is just an abbreviation which is used. The college is registered with the former name.

The city stated here is "Bankura". Horrible mistake. The city is Durgapur. Durgapur is in dist. Burdwan and Bankura is in dist. Bankura.

Lastly, the University is mentioned as "Burdwan University". There is no registered university by this name. The name of the university is "The University of Burdwan"

I am an alumni of this college and felt sad when I saw information of this nature here, I think any alumni would feel the same.
