About National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM)
Launched in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is offering quality courses to create professionals for the securities markets. The institute has 6 schools and offers research programs as well as part-time programs in addition to regular Post Graduate programs. Classroom sessions are interspersed with hands-on training in simulation labs to give students an insight into what actual trading is like. Interactive sessions and workshops with visiting faculty are also conducted from time to time. Students are provided with a copy of prescribed text books.

Infrastructure and facilities The Wi-Fi enabled building of NISM has spacious classrooms and lounge areas, in addition to an auditorium and conference room. As mentioned earlier, simulation labs provide real time experience on how trading takes place in the securities market.
The library is well stocked with books, journals, subscribed periodicals and films relevant to various aspects of the security markets.
Hostel facility is provided about 2kms. from the Institute. Known as NISM Niwas, the hostel is a 6-storey building with non air-conditioned rooms & all the requisite facilities for the comfort of students. Indoor games facilities are also available in the hostel. Note that outstation students, specially outstation lady students, will get preference for hostel accommodation.
With good rapport with industrial and corporate firms, NISM offers placement for its students.
Admission processEligibility criteria for admission to the Post Graduate Programs at NISM varies. For some, it is gained through an online entrance test, essay and personal interview. Those with valid Test scores in the top 30 percentile of GMAT/XAT are also eligible to apply. For other programs, work experience may be required. Similarly, for the certificate courses, you need to contact the institute as each course has varying eligibility criteria and are conducted for a different duration.
The entrance test for a PG program can be taken in various cities at specified centers, while the interview is generally conducted in the major metros of Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. The online test is generally conducted in May and fees need to be paid by the last week of June of that year.
