St.josephs college for women was founded in 1954 and was affiliated to the university of Kerala.This is a christian minority institution ,established under Article 30(1) of constitution of India.Owned and managed by the Canosian Educational Society,it was set up mainly to provide quality higer education to women,especially those from the under- previlaged sections of the society.The college was re- accredited with NAAC 'A' Grade in 2013

Now St.josephs is celebrating its diamond jubilee and various assosiated programs are going on in the campus . the campus is in the alappuzha town itself near the powerhouse bridge.the teaching faculties are all excellent and the college atmosphere is serene and calm. master degree course is available for Homescience,English and physics .
