About Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College, Rasipuram
Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College was started in the year 1968 and is affiliated to Periyar University. It is a co-educational institution which caters the educational needs of the students from the rural background and low economic status. The college has received its approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is managed by the State Government of Tamil Nadu. The main goal of the college is to provide a strong foundation to the rural youth. The college has good infrastructure and experienced faculty members. The college offers quality education to the students at reasonable fees. Many scholarship programmes are also available in the college with some terms and conditions.
Academics Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D courses under the department of Arts and Science. Totally 12 departments are operating in the college, out of which 6 departments are working under the Departments of Arts and the other 6 departments are under the Department of Science.

Department of Science: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Nutrition and Dietetics and Computer Science
Facilities The college is spread over 40 acres land and it has wide buildings with spacious classrooms. The students are given practical education in the well-equipped Physics lab, Chemistry lab and Computer Science lab. The computer science laboratory of the college has modern computers with internet facilities. The college has variety of books, journals, magazines and periodicals. The library is digitized with e-books, e-journals and electronic gadgets. The library has photocopying facilities and the students are allowed to take photocopies of their references. The college provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The college has playground and facilities for indoor and outdoor games such as Cricket, Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Hand ball, Shuttle cock, Chess, Relay, Weight lifting and Kho-Kho.
Activities The college strengthens the students by encouraging them to participate in Physical Education, career guidance programmes and in co-curricular activities like NSS, NCC, Rotract, YRC, RRC,etc. The students from the units of NSS, YRC,RRC are motivated to conduct awareness programmes, welfare programmes, tree planting, blood donation campus, rallies, etc. for the welfare of the society. The college provides special training to the interested students in games and sports such as Cricket, Hockey, Hand ball, Shuttle cock, Chess, Football, Volleyball, Relay , Kho-Kho, athletics and Weight lifting.
