About J.K.S. college
J K S Inter College of Commerce, located in the steel city of Jharkhand, Jamshedpur was established in 1979. The college is affiliated with Kolhan University, Chaibasa. It is also an affiliated body of the Jharkhand Academic Council.
Infrastructure & Facilities
The college is located on a small campus yet it has all the necessary facilities to provide good quality education to students. The infrastructure is of average quality and there are separate blocks for each department. The classrooms are well built and are spacious and loaded with basic facilities like a proper desk, bench, almirah, etc.
The laboratories are not very modern but have all the requisite apparatus and tools to make the students learn effectively through practical. The laboratories have all the necessary tools and apparatus to teach students up to the Intermediate level.
The college library is stocked with a good number of books including textbooks, reference books, stories and literature, magazines, journals, and reports. The students can also borrow books from the library as per the rule.
Extracurricular Activities
The college has a small playground where students play a number of games like football, kho-kho, kabbadi, volleyball, etc. The college also organizes games and sports events and students are awarded for their better performance. Besides games and sports, the college also organizes many programs and events on the issue of social awareness like population explosion, pollution, polio movement, etc.
Academics
J.K.S. college provides UG general and honours courses in B.A. and B.Com. These UG courses comprise 6 semesters spread over a period of 3 years. The syllabus of the various courses is adopted by the college as determined by Kolhan University.
AdmissionsThose students who have passed in their intermediate exams (10+2) can apply for these courses. The minimum marks eligibility in their 10+2 exam is 45% for admission in these courses. The interested candidates can apply for admissions either online on the college website or collect the application form from the college office and submit it physically along with copies of all the necessary documents. The students will have to present the original documents like SSC and HSC mark sheets, Aadhar card, TC and character certificate from the earlier institute, Passport sized photos, Caste certificate if applicable, Proof of date of birth, etc at the time of finalization of admission.
This college was founded and managed by Jain Kalyan Sammittee mainly keeping in view of the poor and downtrodden students of nearby areas and hence very nominal course fee is kept for them in these UG courses. Only an amount of Rs 50 per month for honours courses and Rs 45 per month for general courses is taken from these students.
