About Mahila College, Chaibasa
Mahila College, Chaibasa, the sole women college of West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand was established on 2nd October, 1969 on the auspicious occasion 100th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The college is a constituent unit of Kolhan University, Chaibasa and approved and recognized by the Government of Jharkhand. The college is also registered under University Grant Commission, New Delhi.
Infrastructure and Facilities
The college has been blessed with a lush green campus spread over a land area of 16 acres. The college has good infrastructure and there are separate blocks for each department. The classrooms are spacious and well ventilated and have all the requisite facilities.
The college library houses thousands of text books, reference books, journals, magazines, reports etc. The students can borrow books from the library as per the rule and regulation of the college library.
There is a computer lab which is equipped with modern computer systems running on latest hardware and software.
There are also common rooms, conference hall and seminar hall in the college campus.
Hostel Facility
There are four hostels within the campus with proper living conditions and security. The college management provides all the facilities to students like coolers, hot water, common room with T.V, telephone service, indoor games and pure and hygienic foods.
Extracurricular Activities
The college has a playground where students play many games and sports. Students are encouraged to take active participation in games and sports and many sports events are also organized by the college. There are N.S.S units which organize many cultural and social service programs to inculcate social and cultural values among students. The college organizes youth fests, cultural programs, competitions, seminars etc to increase the students interaction and develop leadership skill and communication skill of the students.
Academics
Mahila College, Chaibasa offers Intermediate courses in numerous subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce. The college runs undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the faculties of Arts and Science. To provide job oriented courses, the college has started Vocational training program in B.C.A (Bachelor of Computer Applications). Recently, the college has started B.Ed degree course.
