About Government General Degree College
Government General Degree College at Kushmandi in the Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal was established in 2014. The recently established college is affiliated to Gour Banga University, Malda and approved and recognized by the Government of West Bengal.
Infrastructure & Facilities
The college is located in a sprawling campus spread over several acre of land area and has state of the art infrastructure. The classrooms are spacious and ventilated and have all the facilities like proper desk, benches, almirah etc. There are separate smart classrooms loaded with LCD screens and projectors to provide audio-visual teaching resources to students which enhance the learning process.
The college library houses large number of text books, reference books, dictionaries, journals, magazines etc. The students have full access to these study materials and they can even borrow books from the library to use it at their home.
There is a computer lab having modern systems running on latest software. These systems are connected through high speed internet.
There is proper arrangement of safe drinking water and parking zone within the campus.
The college also provides scholarship benefits to financially poor and meritorious students.
Extracurricular Activities
The college has a playground where students play different games like cricket, football, volleyball etc and all the sports materials are provided by the college. The college participates in various sports events organized by the university and bags many medals and trophies.
There is unit of NSS and NCC in the college which organizes many events and programs related with social service and social awareness. Students participate in these activities with great enthusiasm and zeal and it also helps to groom their personality, develop leadership skill and team work spirit.
Academics
The newly established college mainly offers bachelor degree courses in various subjects of Arts and Science. In Arts stream it offers general and Honours degree programs in subjects like Bengali, English, History, Philosophy and Political Science. In Science streams the subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The college is further planning to offer some more courses in upcoming sessions. The teaching faculty here is amazing and they are dedicated towards the welfare of students.
