About D. G. Tatkare Arts and Commerce College
Established in 2001 by Tale Vibhag Shikshan Prasarak Mandal and under its administration, D. G. Tatkare Arts and Commerce College initially only had courses for Arts and later added the Commerce stream. It also offers add-on courses related to computer software and hardware as well as a few Diploma courses.
One of the main co-curricular activities of the college is the National Service Scheme (NSS) which conducts blood donation drives, medical camps, etc. It also organizes other activities such as debates and an annual rural winter camp. There are nearly 200 volunteers of the NSS.
Academics In the Arts section, the Departments are: Politics, Economics, Geography and Marathi.
In the Commerce section, the Departments are: Accountancy, Business Economics and Commerce.
Financially poor students and those who are physically handicapped, as well as wards of servicemen, can apply for the various scholarships, both of the Govt. and of the college itself.
Campus infrastructureThe library for senior college subjects is named as Shri Manohar Keshav Randive Library. It is open from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. The library is stocked with textbooks, reference books, periodicals, Encyclopaedias and e-Journals. The reading room is open for students from 7.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. There are also subject-related CDs and DVDs. Photocopying facilities for all and a special Book-Bank facility for backward class students and toppers is available.
The sports facilities on the campus of D. G. Tatkare Arts and Commerce College include a large sports ground for cricket, football, athletics and traditional Indian games. Indoors, students can enjoy table tennis, volleyball, carom, badminton and tennis. There is also a Gymnasium with gym machines and fencing equipment.
The computer lab with Internet facility is available for both faculty and students. The lab is used for teaching some of the IT-related courses and basic computer skills.
