About University Institute of Applied Management Sciences
Faculty of Business Management & Commerce, Panjab University laid the foundation of University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS) in the year 2008-09. UIAMS offers management programmes (mainly M.B.A courses) in sectoral areas and streams so as to fulfill industry needs and requirements for specialized managerial skills. The lush green campus is spread over a vast area in the South Campus of Panjab University. Within a very short period of time, the Institute has been able to gain the attention of some of the biggest companies offering good packages to students. The wi-fi enabled campus has a special e-library which allows students to access a large collection of e-books, journals, research papers, etc. from EBSCO. The classrooms have been developed with the present needs of the students and have various facilities such as laptops, LCD & overhead projectors, sound system, etc.
About Courses
The Institute currently offers six types of MBA courses while a number of new courses will be started in the upcoming years:
- MBA in Retail Management
- MBA in Banking and Insurance Management
- MBA in IT and Telecommunications Management
- MBA in Infrastructural Management
- MBA in Pharmaceutical Manegement
- MBA in Hospital Management
All the courses are of 2 years and have an annual fee of Rs 2,40,000/- approx. The number of seats available in Retail Management and Banking & Insurance Management are 45+5 NRI+ 5 foreign national while the rest of the courses have 22+3 NRI + 1 foreign national seats. Admissions to these courses are conducted on the basis of the MET entrance exam conducted by the university every year.
In addition to these, UIAMS also offers a Ph.D. course which currently has 10 seats and is of 3-6 years.
