Overview
The University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM) was established in the year 2009 and strives to become one of the best hotel and tourism management institute of the country. The institute offers education, training, research, and consultancy in the field of hospitality, tourism, travel and allied sectors. Within a few years of its establishment, the Institute has gained a lot of name & fame and attracted the attention of various sectors by organising various curricular, extracurricular and extension activities over the years. Its vision is to produce trained professionals to meet the growing demands of the Indian and global economy in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
The Campus
The University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management is spread over a vast area in the corner of North Campus of Punjab University. The two-storeyed buildings painted in red have all the modern facilities available for the students. The lush green campus offers free wi-fi facility to students and faculty. The University offers all kinds of sport and study facilities for students. Panjab University has international level sports facilities such as gymnasium hall, cricket ground, swimming pool, hockey & football ground, shooting range, etc. PU has A.C Joshi Library which is the largest library of Punjab. The University has 8 hostels for boys, 10 hostels for girls and 1 working women hostel.
Courses
UITHM offers a number of courses. Two of its main courses are Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) and Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT). The details about these courses and other courses can be found in the course column given below in the page.

Placements
UIHTM provides knowledge and training to the students to help them get jobs in some of the best hotels and tourism companies around the globe. The students get placed in all leading hotel chains, cruise line companies and tour operator companies like Oberoi group of hotels, Roseatte group of hotels, KFC, Hotel Hyatt, ITC Bangalore, Vivanta by Taj, Goa, and Hotel Radisson. Three students got a salary package of Rs 15 lakh and got placed at a fine dining restaurant in Australia in the year 2018-19. More than 80% of the students got placed and the average salary offered to a student was of Rs 15,000 per month in 2018-19.
Alumni Relations
The Institute organised its first alumni meet in the year 2017 and has been organising regular alumni meets to interact with alumni.
