About KR Narayanan Institute of Visual Arts And Science, Kottayam
KR Narayanan Institute of Visual Arts and Science is a new film Institute set up in Kerala to study film making, acting and related activities. The Kerala government started this course to introduce the most modern international standards in the field of visual media to the students in India. This institute which is expecting to be a world leader in visual media is named after former President of India, KR Narayanan. The institute is situated in Thekkumthala in the Kottayam district of Kerala. As per the management, this institute equals any film institute in India in terms of technological facilities and excellence of faculties.
The chairman of the managing committee is the Chief Minister of Kerala. Many other dignitaries are included in the governing committee including the Minister for higher education, Member of Parliament from Kottayam and local MLAs. Eminent Malayalam film director Mr. Adoor Gopalakrishnan is the current Chairman of the institute.
For each course, there is a core program, program elective and open-elective program. The main program is called the core. Program electives are the choices taken from your own section. Open-elective programs are those selected from other section courses. One is awarded the diploma only after studying and passing the required electives.
The institute has appointed very senior persons from the film industry as faculty. Also, there will be some guests and visiting faculty who are famous personalities from the present film industry.
