About Action For Autism
The Action for Autism College was set up with a vision of "A Society that views the interdependence of people OF every ability as valuable and enriching and seeks to provide equal opportunities for all". The thought behind this vision is as pure as it can be. It provides an organised channel to help autistic children gain a better quality of life.
Action for Autism even mention in their Mission statement that they want to facilitate an environment and channel which will not have any hindrances for differently-abled children and their families. It will help in empowering them and bringing a change in the quality of their lifestyle. Proper education and training of the children by properly qualified personnel will help them to fully participate in the day to day activities of the community.
The history of the organisation dates back to 1988-89. A group of parents whose children were attending special schools were not making progress. As a result, by 1991, the parents formed the AFA support group and in 1994 an Open door experimental school was initiated. Soon enough a Teacher training programme was initiated and the official website began in 1996.
In the year 2003, AFA started a one year course Diploma in Special Education - DSE-ASD. Since 2003, the course has been recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India. in 2016, AFA started two years Bachelors in Special Education-Autism Spectrum Disorders recognised by Rehabilitation Council of India and affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
AFA college campus can be very well reached by various modes of transport. Being situated in Delhi, it has good connectivity with every city through air, road and rail transport.
