About Cindrebay School of Design, Calicut
The Cindrebay schools of design were first founded in the city of Calicut in Kerala in 2006. It started as a small start-up by its founders, who hailed from this city, which has a rich architectural heritage. Over the years, Cindrebay School of Design, Calicut founded favour with the design aspirants of the region and has been thus able to grow up in leaps and bounds. In recent years, the brand has expanded to 8 other locations in the country, especially in the southern region.
The Calicut campus of the design school is located at West Hill on the Calicut-Kannur highway. It has a 4-storey building with over 24,000 sq ft space for its numerous facilities including academic blocks, administrative offices, recreational facilities and parking space.
Academics at Cindrebay Calicut The design school provides for diploma and degree courses in many facets of design such as interior design, fashion design and animation & VFX. The diploma and degree courses are of one-year and 3-year duration respectively. Affiliated to Bharathiar University, the BSc courses offered by Cindrebay School of Design are recognized by the UGC.
The college has state of the art facilities, equipment and advanced software for its different courses. Most of the faculty have industry experience in the design field. The interior designing courses provide the students with ample real-world exposure. For the fashion designing courses, as part of field visits, students are taken to garment and textile production centres, art & craft locations, museums, etc., so as to act as an inspiration for the students and to broaden their imagination. For the animation courses, the students are provided training in aspects such as 2D and 3D animation, gaming, filmmaking, web designing, graphics designing, VFX and so on.
Cindrebay provides for 100% placement of its students. It sees to it that every student is placed after the successful completion of his/her course. The college sets certain parameters for every student for successful completion of the course. Some of these parameters are – not less than 80% attendance, attending seminars and workshops, submitting drawing sheets, site visit reports, guest lecture reports and so on. The students are evaluated on their performance on a monthly basis, thus helping them to improve in case of any shortcoming in the previous month.
The college provides for scholarships to meritorious and needy students. It also arranges for loans through banks to the needy. For outstation students, Cindrebay helps in arranging accommodation around the college campus.
Admissions Admissions for the degree courses at Cindrebay take place during June-July. For the diploma courses, there are four new batches in a year and they start from March, May, August and December respectively. One may choose any month to commence the course. Cindrebay follows a centralized process for admission at all its locations, which are at Trivandrum, Kochi, Kannur, Thodupuzha, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Nagpur. For admissions, either one may visit the campus and fill the necessary form or one may fill an online enquiry form available at the website. The basic requirement for admission to any of the courses is a pass in class 12 with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. For the fashion designing courses, the students need to additionally appear for a Cindrebay Fashion Design Entrance Exam. And for the interior designing courses, one will need to qualify the Cindrebay Design Aptitude Test. The admission process has been explained in detail at the Cindrebay Bangalore page.
