About Rajalakshmi School of Business Chennai
Within a very short period of time, the Rajalakshmi School of Business, which offers the PGDM course and is directly affiliated with the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has emerged as a college of choice, for students of Poonamalee and surrounding areas, interested in acquiring a qualification equivalent to MBA. The PG Diploma in Business Analytics offered as one of the specializations, is a unique one. The B school also offers PGDM in Finance. The B School has a very impressive placement record.
The Rajalakshmi School of Business is vastly different from the B-Schools or Departments of Management Studies run by other engineering colleges in Chennai. There are only two big brands in Chennai, that offer the PGDM course. One of these is the Loyola Institute of Business Administration, which is a standalone B-school of the world-famous Loyola College, Chennai.
This B-School has been in existence for decades and has become a very powerful brand. The PGDM course offered by this institute is quite famous and is counted among the best in South India.
A late competitor emerged in the form of the Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai. This was set up by Prof. Bala Balachandran and it has become a force to reckon with. Though he is no more today, his legacy lives on.
There has been a big vacuum in the B School space in Chennai and the Rajalakshmi School of Business is ideally poised to fill this vacuum. The courses offered by this B School are the PGDM course with a specialization in Marketing Management. Today, this B School has a good faculty strength with a number of highly reputed visiting faculty, one of whom is Dr M.J. Xavier, former director of IIM Ranchi, and a reputed expert in Marketing Management.
The core competency of this B School is the clear edge it has in terms of very good Faculty Members, big industry orientation, and research focus. Furthermore, it uses the highly competitive CAT and XAT competitive examination scores for admission and hence is assured of a good student profile pan-India.
The big competitors to the two mentioned above, in Tamil Nadu, are the Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirapalli, the Thiagararar School of Management, Madurai, and the PSG Institute of Management, Coimbatore. The lesser but growing Sona School of Management from Salem can also be counted in this list.
There is hardly any doubt that the graduates from this Business school will find good or even the best jobs, given the fact that Tamil Nadu is now attracting a number of big investments, some of which are already in operation. The service sector, in the form of new five-star hotels, resorts, malls, etc. will also open up new opportunities in marketing. - ABSivakumar
