About Namrata Acharya Junior College
Namrata Acharya Junior College has been established by the Leela Education Society in the year 2013-14. Under its wing, Leela Education Society has established a few other educational institutions, one of them being the Namrata Acharya English School. All its institutions are located on the same campus on the Kalyan to Karjat highway, near the foothills of Matheran.
As its name suggests, NAJC or Namrata Acharya Junior College provides education at the intermediate level for classes XI and XII under the Maharashtra State Board Of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education Board, Navi Mumbai. Students can enrol either for the science or the commerce stream. Both courses are of two years duration. The medium of instruction is English. Among other things, attendance is compulsory at this junior college. In an academic year, the students need to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance for both lectures and practicals. For the benefit of students coming by local trains, a concession is given in rail fare for to and fro travel from their home station to college.
Infrastructure The junior college has classrooms that are digitally equipped. There is a well-stocked library, science laboratories, a language lab, and a computer centre. The students have excess to indoor as well as outdoor games, cultural activities, a canteen and separate hostels for boys and girls. There are facilities for sports like football fields, cricket grounds, basketball courts, volleyball courts, gym, tennis and indoor badminton court. Games like Kabaddi, dodge ball and athletics are very popular amongst the students.
There are events like annual day functions, inter and intra-college competitions in sports as well as cultural activities, debate competitions, drama competitions and so on. Students get to participate in local, state and national competitions depending on their capabilities.
