About St. Joseph’s Institute of Management
St. Joseph's Institute of Management (SJIM), managed by the International Jesuit Organization is reputed to be the first business school in Bangalore. It has its roots established in 1885 when Paris Foreign Mission Fathers opened their first school in Bangalore, St. Joseph's European High School. It was later in 1968 that the Jesuit management opened the business school in the city, which went by the name St. Joseph's College of Business Administration. The college started by offering a one-year evening management course. In 1996, the college got approval from AICTE and started offering a two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). Ever since the college has been a popular business school in Bangalore. Later in the year 2016, the college got its present name, St. Joseph's Institute of Management and got located at its new campus at Primrose Road, off M.G. Road, in the heart of the city. The college has been lately offering a Ph.D. program in affiliation with the University of Mysore.
Infrastructure and facilities SJIM has a state-of-the-art campus with most modern facilities. It has theatre-styled classrooms, computer labs with internet facilities, library with more than 18,000 books & publications and is accessible at all hours by all, including hostel students residing on-campus. The library has subscribed to several national and international journals, e-books, and online databases like EBSCO, CRISIL, PROWESS and others. Round-the-clock Wi-Fi connectivity is available within all corners of the campus.
SJIM has excellent hostel facilities for both men and women. The accommodation for men is off-campus on Victoria Road, five minutes walk from the institute. Students have options to choose from for their accommodation. Three types of accommodation are there – single room, double sharing room and double sharing room with attached bath. There are facilities like a parking lot, basketball court, Wi-Fi, hygienic food, hot water, etc.
The women's hostel is located on the main campus. The rooms are dual sharing and the hostellers have access to all the facilities in the college like the library, gym, sports, etc. after class hours. Wi-Fi connectivity is available at all hours. The hostels provide a secure environment for the students.
The campus is physically challenged-friendly. All buildings have lifts and the entrances have ramps. Even the theatre-styled classrooms have ramps for easy access. Other facilities include specially designed restrooms and ample parking in the basement.
For extracurricular activities, the college provides activities like sports, cultural programmes and a number of clubs such as an academic club, finance club, marketing club, entrepreneurship club, toastmasters club, operations club and so on.
Admissions For admissions at the PGDM and the Ph.D. programs at the institute, prospective candidates need to visit the college website. The application for the programs is to be done online.
