About Raja Balwant Singh Engineering Technical Campus
Raja Balwant Singh Engineering Technical Campus is a well-known engineering and pharma college located in Bichpuri, Agra. Governed by Balwant Educational Society, the college is affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. Previously the college was affiliated with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. The college offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the field of engineering. For pharma, it offers undergraduate programs only. It has a rich historical connection, as way back in 1885 itself, the Late Raja Balwant Singh Ji, the erstwhile ruler of Awagarh Estate, on whom the society governing the college has been named, had been a visionary in the spread of education.
The college has two faculties. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, started in the year 1996, had three branches initially, namely Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Food Technology. In later years Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering were also started. The first M.Tech course was offered in the year 2006 in Food Technology. In the other technical branches, the M.Tech courses started as late as 2012. All the courses are approved by AICTE.
The Faculty of Pharma, the other faculty, is relatively new. The B.Pharm course was started from the academic session 2011-12. The college offers a D.Pharm course as well. The pharma courses are approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.
Infrastructure and facilities The college has a good infrastructure with numerous facilities. It has a spacious and beautiful campus with manicured lawns, well-architectured buildings and lots of open space. Among the facilities are, an internet & computer centre, library, hostel, gym, guest house, cafeteria, transport, medical and sports.
There are separate hostels for boys and girls, with a total capacity of nearly 1250 students. The hostels are well-secured and have all the required facilities like power backup, RO water, games & sports, and common rooms.
There is a provision for an air-conditioned guest house, the facilities for which can be availed by both college officials and parents/guardians on a need basis, subject to availability. The library is air-conditioned and has around 35,000 books along with various technical and science journals. There is a separate reading room and a digital library section with facilities for accessing e-books and e-journals.
The medical facilities are at par with other reputed institutions. Apart from the regular day-to-day facilities like a qualified medical practitioner, which can be availed free of cost by the students, the college has a tie-up with nearby hospitals to meet unforeseen emergencies. 24x7 ambulance facilities are available for the same.
The sports facilities include a vast playground and an indoor facility for various indoor games. Tournaments are organised at regular intervals at various levels. As for transport, the college has its fleet of buses that can be availed by the day scholars at a reasonable cost.
Apart from academics, the college organizes various cultural and literary events from time to time. There are clubs to promote the diverse interests and creativity of the students. Regular tours and visits are organised to various industrial units in and around the city. The college has a placement cell with a good placement record.
Admission Admissions to the various B.Tech, D.Pharm and B.Pharm programs in Raja Balwant Singh Engineering Technical Campus is through Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE). Besides, the candidates should also fulfil criteria like passing 10+2 or an equivalent exam from UP Board or any other recognised board with at least 45% aggregate marks for the general category (40% for the SC/ST categories). Physics & Math are the compulsory subjects for the B.Tech courses and Physics & Chemistry for the pharma courses.
For admission to M.Tech courses, a minimum of 60% marks for the general category (55% for the reserved categories) is required. Preference is given to candidates with GATE scores.
