About Andhra University College of Engineering for Women
As the name suggests, Andhra University College of Engineering for Women is a constituent college of Andhra University. The college was set up in 2010 as a self-financing institution to empower women by harnessing their immense potential in nation-building.
The college offers B.Tech courses in several engineering branches, namely Computer Science & Systems, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, and Civil. Several integrated courses are also offered by the college, which are dual degree courses and on graduation the students will get both B.Tech and M.Tech degrees. The integrated courses are of 6 years duration.
Facilities The college is located within the perimeter of the Andhra University campus. The college building has a modern facade. The campus is a spacious one. The college makes use of modern teaching aids. It has conventional classrooms as well as e-classrooms. It has a library with a reading room attached to it.
There is a separate laboratory complex, which has all the necessary facilities for the different departments, including laboratories for basic sciences and a communication lab. There are four computer labs with intranet and internet facilities sourced from the university Computer Centre. Wi-Fi connectivity is available for every department.
Among other things, the college has a seminar room with a seating capacity of 200. Workshops and conferences are arranged department-wise and visited by eminent speakers from different colleges. There is a playground and a hostel as well. The playground is equipped for sports like Tennikoit, Tennis, Shuttle Badminton and Throw Ball. There are some indoor games available too. The hostel is a safe and secure one. There is an Anti-Ragging Cell to ensure the safety of the students from ragging and harassment by the seniors.
The college also makes available skill-development programs. These are available through unique labs set up by the college. Some of these are the Mechatronics lab, Robotic lab, CNC Machines lab, and Advanced Manufacturing lab. Irrespective of the year of study, any student can join one or more of these labs for their skill development. A soft skills lab is also there to improve the various soft skills of the students.
The college has a placement cell which ensures the majority of the students get placed. Some of the companies where students have been regularly placed are IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Thought Works, Analytics Quotient and so on.
Admissions Admission to the college is strictly for girls. The candidates have to appear for the AP EAPCET, which is a state-level exam conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for admission to engineering, agricultural and pharmacy courses. The intake for each branch is 60.
