About Flora College of Architecture
Located on the outskirts of Pune city, off the Pune-Satara Highway, Flora College of Architecture has a very picturesque location. The college is part of Flora Institutes, which has several schools, colleges and skill centres under it. Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University the institute has recognition from the Council of Architecture, a regulatory body constituted by the Government of India that regulates the profession of architecture in India. The Council of Architecture has been conducting the NATA exam, through which admission to various colleges offering architecture courses is undertaken.
Flora College offers a Bachelor of Architecture program. The course duration is 5 years. The institute organizes workshops and study tours as part of the course curriculum. During the study tours, the students are taken to places that are popular for their unique architectural styles. Some of these places visited are Ajanta-Ellora caves, the city of Bhuj in Gujarat, and places of historical interest like Hampi, Badami and Bijapur.
The field of architecture is synonymous with creative activities. As such, the institute conducts various competitions, some of the popular activities being, umbrella and canvas painting. Exhibitions are held at art galleries, where the students get to showcase their creative skills through photos, sketches, and paintings.
Facilities The college has classrooms that are ICT (Information and Communication Technology) enabled with projector and LAN facilities. The library is open 24 hours a day and has a spacious reading hall. There is a fully equipped computer lab with the latest software loaded on all the computers. Some of these software are AutoCAD, Google Sketchup, Revit, and Adobe Suite, which are very useful for the field of architecture. There is a separate material library through which the students learn about the latest updates on construction materials, how to use them, their costing and most important of all, estimation.
The college has hostel facilities for its students. Separate sections are there for boys and girls. Each room is meant for four boarders and has an attached bath cum toilet. The hostel has a mess and a gym. There is also a cafeteria outside the hostel premises.
There is a huge playground and a jogging track as well. Regular sporting events, including, annual meets are organised at the college. Since the campus is located on the outskirts of the city, the college provides buses that pick up students from two different routes in Pune. The staff members and faculty can also avail the bus facility.
Admissions Admission to the B.Tech program at Flora College of Architecture is basically through NATA score, the exam for which is conducted by the Council of Architecture, Govt. of India. The minimum score required is 40%. Those with a valid JEE Main Paper-2 score are also considered. Apart from this, the candidate should have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and mathematics as the compulsory subject. Those with 10+3 diploma qualification (any stream) with 50% aggregate marks are also eligible.
The application process begins at the time of the NATA and the JEE Main Paper-2 exams. The selections are through merit, and the merit list is declared during June or July.
