About Vellore Institute of Technology

The University status was conferred to Vellore Engineering College on 19.6.2001 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The founder, who became the Chancellor on this upgradation, now leads the implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan that aims to leverage the Institute''s existing strengths and ensure its rapid progress as an internationally recognised institution. Mr.Sekar Viswanathan & Mr.G.V.Selvam are the Pro-Chancellor Prof Dr.D.P.Kothri the Vice-Chancellor.

VIT is the first educational institution in India to get international accreditations for its programmes.
