About College Of Engineering, Cherthala The roots College of Engineering, Cherthala was established in 2004 and initially, it was affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). In 2015, it got affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (formerly known as Kerala Technical University (KTU)). It is one of the engineering colleges selected by the Government of India under the scheme of the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP). The college is also approved by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE).
Who runs it The college is managed by the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) which is an undertaking by the Government of Kerala. The Governing committee chairman is the Education Minister of Kerala and the Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, Government of Kerala iss the Vice-Chairman. There is a high-level committee formed for the smooth running of the college.
Campus The college is situated in Pallipuram which is the heart of Cherthala. It is surrounded by greenish vegetation and is very near to the large Vembanadu Lake which makes the entire area near the college beautiful. This scenic atmosphere itself provides a great and positive atmosphere to the students for learning.
College facilities The library has around 7405 books as per the latest estimation which includes prominent textbooks, supplementary reading materials, reference books, and general reading books. Besides the books, the Library is subscribed to 600+ online journals, 363 ebooks, around 30 print journals, and 18 magazines. The college library is Powered by KOHA, an Open Source Integrated Library Management System.
The college has computer facilities as per AICTE norms and students can use the internet facility from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. The college is connected to the National Knowledge Network (NKN) which is a pan India network connected across many educational institutions in India.
The conference and seminar hall is provided in the campus with all most modern audio and video equipment. A lot of seminars and workshops are conducting here related to educational subjects. The hall has a capacity to accommodate 120 persons.
The college has a girls hostel facility and it has the capacity to take 40 inmates and is managed by the college PTA directly. - Vimaldev Ullattuthodiyil Vasudevan
