About Daulat Ram College
Daulat Ram College, a premier college for women is a constituent college of the University of Delhi, founded in 1960. Originally known as 'Pramila College', it was renamed Daulat Ram College after the founder, educationist Shri Daulat Ram Gupta, when the college shifted to its present location on Patel Marg in the North Campus of University of Delhi in the year 1964.
|Daulat Ram College is one of the leading colleges for women in Delhi that provides for both undergraduate and postgraduate education in the arts, commerce and science stream. With around 18 departments in all, it has more than 3500 students on its rolls.|
Infrastructure Being a constituent college of the University of Delhi, Daulat Ram College has all the modern facilities for its students. The classrooms are fitted with LCD projectors, an air-conditioned library with a large collection of books and periodicals, as well as a reading room for the benefit of both students and staff. For the differently-abled, the library has a braille section, where facilities like E-book Reader, Talking Digital Pocket Daisy Player, MP3 Player and Radio cum Voice Recorders are available.
To aid the students in their practical work, the college has laboratories for physics, chemistry, botany, zoology and biochemistry. There are labs for mathematics, psychology and health education too. All these labs are well equipped. The computer labs have the latest in digital equipment and are connected to the Delhi University intranet. All the computer labs, including the ones meant for the commerce and math department, have internet facilities. Apart from these, the college has various arrangements with some of the renowned institutions in the country and abroad. The students get the opportunity to carry out laboratory experiments and research-oriented work at these institutions.
Among other facilities, the college has a seminar room, an amphitheatre and an auditorium. Various events, seminars and functions are organised at these facilities. The auditorium is big enough to accommodate more than 1400 students. Many intra and inter-college events get organised here.
Along with the above, the students can avail the services of a canteen, a coffee shop and a bank. There is also a medical room with basic first-aid facilities. As part of the World University Health Service Scheme of the University of Delhi, the students also get to avail the medical benefits under this scheme by paying a nominal annual fee of Rs 5/-.
The college has hostel facilities for outstation students. However, the intake capacity is limited to around 200 and the most meritorious students only can avail of it. The hostel provides for a comfortable stay, surrounded with lush green lawns and gardens, including, a kitchen garden. The hostel ambiance is one of the best, among all Delhi University hostels.
Students here get various opportunities for extracurricular activities like music, dance, dramatics, singing, debates and sports. Students can volunteer for programs like NSS and NCC. There are also skill development programs like ‘Self-enhancement skill', ‘Appreciation of popular culture' and so on. There is an Eco-club that enables the students in participating in various environmentally-friendly activities like recycling waste and keeping the campus green and neat.
Admissions at DRC Admissions to this college for the undergraduate programs are on the basis of your marks in class 12. There are cut-offs for each program. The cut-offs also depend upon the category of the students, whether General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST or PwD.
