About Acharya Narendra Dev College
Named after the great educationist and reformist of modern India, Acharya Narendra Dev, Acharya Narendra Dev College has over the years, acquired a repute for the meritorious profile of its student population, along with their sense of discipline and social responsibility. On offer is several Bachelor of Science programmes for pure and applied science streams such as B.Sc. Honours in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science, Botany and Zoology as well as B.Sc. Programmes in Physical sciences, Life Sciences, Applied Physical Sciences and Applied Life Sciences.
Acharya Narendra Dev College was started in the year 1991. It is affiliated to the University of Delhi and was accredited with Grade ‘A' by NAAC recently. It started with just 4 rooms and 100 students in R.K. Puram and then shifted to its current campus situated in Govindpuri in the year 1992. Although it started with only 2 graduate-level courses, it is now offering 2 postgraduate level and 9 graduate-level courses along with various certificate and diploma courses in different streams.
Infrastructure and facilities The College has a good infrastructure and offers all required facilities for effective learning. The library with 2 rooms initially has expanded to around 3000 square feet of space in a few years after its inception. It is now big and spacious with more than 27000 books on different subjects. It is fully air-conditioned and students use RFID-based smart cards and INFLIB-NET to access its automated services. It has subscriptions to many online periodicals and journals. There are 3 air-conditioned reading halls attached to the library - 2 for students and 1 for the staff members. There are newspaper stands, a stack area, and a server room also. A web center with 76 terminals with internet connectivity and advanced system configuration is available on the first floor of the library.
The classrooms are spacious and well furnished. There are 30 classrooms with projectors and other advanced teaching aids. Separate tutorial rooms are there for mathematics and commerce subjects for doubt sessions.
The laboratories are well equipped with all necessary equipment. There are more than 20 laboratories for the science stream. There are also 14 advanced labs with all the facilities required for research-based studies.
Apart from the above, there are conference rooms, a conference hall with a sitting capacity of more than 100 people, a seminar hall for 200 people and a committee room with Wi-Fi connectivity.
The college has 5 air-conditioned labs with 30 computers and 24x7 power supply. Apart from the labs, there are more than 300 desktops and laptops along with printers and scanners in different departments.
There is a separate department for physical education equipped with all fitness and sports equipment. There are facilities for chess, cricket, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, and many other indoor and outdoor games. The college also motivates students with disabilities like vision impairment, limb deficiency, etc. in the field of sports.
There are ramps and railing for differently-abled people. There is wheelchair services and pick & drop facilities for such students from Govindpuri. For students with vision impairment, there is a Lex vision camera reading system, and Braille to speech conversion facility.
The college canteen serves a variety of food at reasonable rates. A stationary center with photocopy facility and medical facilities are also available on the campus.
Admissions For admissions at Acharya Narendra Dev College, students first need to check the cut-off for admissions on the DU or the college website. If eligible as per the cut-off, they need to login to the admission portal and select the course.
