The G.B.Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT), was established in the year 1960 at Pantnagar, in Udham Singh Nagar district in the state of Uttarakhand. This university was conceived on the pattern of Land Grant Agriculture Universities of the United States. It has a collaboration with University of Illinois, USA. The university offers various UG/PG/PhD programmes for the eligible candidates in the fields of Agriculture, Biotechnology, Forestry, Engineering, Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Home Science, Horticulture, Food Technology etc. University campus is spread over a large area and Hostels, staff quarters, shopping complex, canteen etc all are located within the campus.
AdmissionsFor admission to UG course in Agriculture or Forestry or Horticulture or Food Technology the candidates should have completed their Intermediate (10+2) in Agriculture/Science stream with Biology or Mathematics as one of the subjects.
For admission to UG courses in Home Science the candidates should have completed their Intermediate (10+2) with Science with Biology or Mathematics as one of the subjects.
For B.Tech. courses the candidates should have completed their 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics along with one of the subjects among Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology. The admissions would be finalised based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and then the counselling would be done by Uttarakhand Technical University.
For admission to UG courses in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry the candidates should have completed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with at least 50% marks in aggregate. For SC/ST/OBC candidates 40% marks would suffice.
Admissions to Master's programme (M.Sc. in Agricultural Biotechnology) are done through the all India entrance exam (GAT-B) conducted by DBT Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad.
Admission to MBA/MBA (Agribusiness) is done based on the CAT/CMAT score of the candidate and university conducts group discussion and interview for that before finalising the admissions. The university conducts a separate entrance test for the admission to MCA programme and candidate has to fill a separate application form for the same.
For admission to M.Tech. programmes GATE score of the candidates would be considered. The candidates should note that for outside candidates (from states other than Uttarakhand) for M.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering majors the selection for admission would be done through entrance examination conducted by Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR).
Candidates desirous to apply for PhD should note that for PhD programmes in Agronomy and Plant Pathology, they have to apply through the entrance test conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). For other disciplines candidate should apply for the entrance test conducted by the university.
Outside candidates should go through the university portal in details to find out the quota for outside candidates in admissible courses.
