About Basanti Devi College

Basanti Devi College, through the years, has been fortunate to build up a congenial intellectual and cultural ambience by the concerted effort of the academic and the administrative staff under the able guidance of past and present principals. This college is affialited under Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) which is the premier State Open University in India.

Beginning with only a few undergraduate programmes, the college has expanded considerably. Presently college is offering seven B.A (Honours) subjects in humanities and social sciences and five B.Sc (Honours) subject in sciences. Moreover, in addition to it, B.A (General) and B.Sc (General) subjects are also offered.

Admissions starts in July month of every year for new batches.

Basanti Devi College is located near to Gariahat and on Rashbehari Avenue, South Kolkata. It is a Girls College under Calcutta University. Basanti Devi College offers Graduation courses in Arts, Science and Commerce in all major subjects. It has a good Hostel for Ladies. Canteen is also very good and provides hygienic foods to the students. Basanti Devi College also acts as a Study Centre of Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) and of Netaji Subhash Open University (NSOU) in weekends and in the evening time. Basanti Devi College is overall a good college for girls and very popular in this region.

Basanti Devi College as an institution of higher education. The College was founded on 5th august 1959. This is one of the earliest girls colleges in Calcutta. The College named after the great Indian patriotic leader Desbandhu Chittaranjan Dass wife "Basanti Devi". This college is near Kalighat Metro Station. All the Under Graduate courses like B.A./B.Sc/B.Com are available with experienced faculty. The Pass percentage from this college is really good for last 10-15 years. This credit must go to Students & faculty. *Note: Canteen available But No Hostel Facility.
