About St. Xavier's College
One of India's oldest and city's most famous college, it is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Established in 1940 by the Society of Jesus, it is entrusted by the University with the task of preparing students for degrees in Arts, Science and Commerce.
St. Xavier's College Bombay/Mumbai (Maharashtra) is a Catholic educational institution with a strong focus on creative and critical thinking with its main focus being social transformation. The college was named after St. Francis Xavier, who was a saint in the 16th century. It was founded by the Society of Jesus, a group started by St. Ignatius in the year 1540. It was affiliated to the University of Bombay on January 30, 1869.
St. Xavier's College is well known for the "Malhar" festival which is celebrated in August. It initiates various other festivals in the college like Janfest, Eco Nundrum.
