|IIIT Hyderabad is an autonomous university established in 1998 with seed support from the Government of Andhra Pradesh under the not-for-profit public-private partnership model. This is the first IIIT to be established as such under this n-PPPP model. A major goal of IIIT is to impart a uniquely broad and interdisciplinary IT education of the highest academic quality. This is achieved through an integrated curriculum that consists of a highly diverse set of IT courses, interdisciplinary IT research projects, day-to-day interaction with industry, preparation in entrepreneurship and personality development courses. Apart from its focus on technology, the institute lays a lot of emphasis on quality research. It is one of the few colleges in India to provide scope for advanced research to its undergraduate students. A few such areas for research for undergraduate students are robotics, search engines, computer vision, wireless communication, speech processing, pattern recognition, machine translation, databases, data mining, VLSI, embedded systems, and bioinformatics. Added to this, the curriculum at IIIT Hyderabad is quite flexible and the students can select their own courses and projects.|
