About Al-Azhar College of Arts & Science
Al-Azhar College of Arts & Science is Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University and approved by Government of kerala. Al-Azhar college is situated at Perumbillichira which is only 2 kms away from Thodupuzha town.(Thodupuzha-Kumaramangalam Road).
Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University and approved by Government of kerala, the Al-Azhar College of Arts & Science is intended to become a centre of academic excellence.Al-Azhar campus is situated at a distance of 2 kms from Thodupuzha town located at Perumbillichira (Thodupuzha-Kumaramangalam Road). The towns of Muvattupuzha,Palai and Adimali are within easy reach.Apart from being accessible the college is set in a panoramic and tranquil location.
Al-Azhar College of Arts & Science was started in 2002 as part the of Al-Azhar Group of Institutions in the Idukki district of Kerala. It has the approval of the Government of Kerala and is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.
Infrastructure and FacilitiesBeing an Arts & science college, it has well equipped and advanced laboratories for facilitating the practical learning of the students. These labs are also available for students who want to pursue their own research programs under the guidance of supervisors.
There is a spacious library with internet facility. It is having a collection of both printed as well as softcopies of reading and reference material.
The college also has gym facility to support the physical fitness of the students. Proper guidance and support are provided by the appointed trainer if required.
There is a general store within the campus that fulfils the general requirements of students including stationery at a reasonable price.
For the accommodation of the students, there are separate hostels for boys and girls inside the campus. These hostels are secured and offer hygienic meals and a friendly environment for the students away from home.
For day scholars, the proper transport arrangements are made by the college at an additional cost. Students staying in Thodupuzha can avail of this service to reach the college on time.
There is a sports community participating in various sports at university and state levels. There are all facilities on the campus for outdoor games like Volleyball, Cricket, etc. A separate badminton court is also available for students.
Lastly, the whole campus is having Wi-Fi facility to offer uninterrupted online learning for students and there is an ATM within the campus to fulfil the cash requirements of the students and staff.
ActivitiesAlong with academic development, it is very important to impart social behaviour and moral values to students. The college has a functional NSS group and students participate in the same voluntarily.
The college also organizes Arts and Cultural festivals that give opportunities to the students to show their talents and interests apart from studies.
There is a career guidance cell to support the students to get into their professional life. A functional placement cell and student counselling are also available on the campus for students.
