About Govt. College, Attingal
The Government College Attingal was started in 1975 and inaugurated by Sri. Vakkom Purushothaman as a Junior College. It started with 160 students but soon flourished with lots of new admissions and in 1978 became a first-grade college. Gradually, various subjects and courses were introduced and B.Com degree was first among them. Currently, it is offering graduate, postgraduate and research courses in Arts, Science and language streams. It got accredited with B Grade by NAAC recently and is affiliated to Kerala University.
Facilities and ActivitiesThe college has all the required amenities like spacious classrooms, auditorium hall, playground, etc. The library is having a great collection of books, magazines, journals, newspapers, etc and is well maintained. It opens at 9.30 in the morning and students can access it till 4.30 in the evening on all working days. Two books at a time can be borrowed by the students and while reading inside the library, silence must be maintained.
The college also supports students with financial problems by offering various scholarships. These scholarships include the post-matric scholarship of Rs. 3000/-, Higher education scholarships of Rs. 15000/-, Muslim Girl's scholarship of Rs. 3000/-, Kerala state Suvarna jubilee merit scholarship of Rs. 10000/- and many more.
If we talk about activities, the students can participate in NCC or NSS as per their choice and interest. - Padmini
