Adithya Institute of Technology (AIT), situated in Kurumbapalayam, SS Kulum, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu was started to provide comprehensive technical education. The distance of college from Coimbatore City is 12 km and it is 9 kilometres from Civil Aerodrome, Coimbatore. The college was established in 2008 by Adithya Educational Trust. The college got accreditated by NAAC, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Coimbatore.
The college aims to not only provide education to students in a systematic way by adapting a teaching-learning process, but also train them to learn the practicality of life and provide career development skills too. The college also makes students ready for entrepreneurship and develops moral values.
There are several scholarships scheme available to the students viz. BC/MBC/DNC (for Counseling students), SC/ ST/ SCA/ Post Matric Scholarship Scheme (for Counseling and Management students), Uzhavar Pathukappu Thittam Scholarship (for Students from Agricultural background), Thaiyal Kalaignar Scholarship, Magalir Suya Udhavi Kuzhu Scholarship, Kattumana Thozhilalar Scholarship, Scholarship for Backward category/Muslim/Christian, Community Based Trust Scholarship, First Graduate Scholarship (for undergraduate students only). Educational loan is being provided by the National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC) to the backward category students for pursuing professional or technical education at the graduate and higher level.
The college is well-developed having eight Departments viz. Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Department of Civil Engineering (CE), Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Department of Information Technology (IT), Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME), MBA, Department of Science & Humanities (S&H).
The college library is one of the best libraries in the area and is digitized with internet as well as intranet facility, having a huge collection of books (around 19411) covering almost all streams of Engineering, Science Technology, Humanities and the like. In the library, the readers are allowed to have access to videos of NPTEL course materials and e-journals etc. Web-OPAC –online search facility is also available through which an online library catalogue can be accessed by students. 150 print version periodicals and 1200 digital versions periodicals and 1289 CDs/DVDs/VCDs are available in the library to cater to the needs of the students. Besides, the library has also subscribed to various E-journals and magazines. Non- book materials like various reports and thesis are also available to students.
Separate in-campus hostel facilities have been provided for boys and girls. Hostel rooms are spacious and comfortable with sufficient storage, and having internet as well as wi-fi facility. Each hostel is having its own kitchen, dining hall, reading room, library and recreation facilities. The number of students per hostel room is in the ratio of 3:1. The hostel can accommodate around 210 students in total including 120 boys and 90 girls.
A food court with 500 seating capacity is available in the campus for college staff, students and visitors. It serves a healthy and hygienic and hot meal.
The computer centre is well equipped having more than 900 computers with internet facility. The college campus and boys and girls hostels are alos WiFi enabled. There is 24-hours internet accessibility within the campus. Around 100 CCTV cameras have also been installed in the campus to ensure the safety and security of students on the college premises. Besides, the progress report of students is being communicated to parents by the institute via SMS alerts regularly. SMS alerts are also sent on Absentees, Internal Assessment Marks, etc.
The college gives the transport facility to the students. Eight luxury buses are deployed for transportation of college staff and students. These buses depart from the college by 4:45 p.m. in the evening after college hours. An in-house Printing Press and the stationery shop is available in the college premises to fulfil the needs of students for printing, binding, lamination, xerox and stationery items etc. To provide power back-up in case of power emergency, a DG set of 200kVA capacity has been installed in the institution.
First-aid facility is available in all the departments in the campus and a van facility to undertake the inmates to the nearby hospitals is also available 24x7. The college gives attention to the fitness of the students, for which an in-house gym is available. Several kinds of sports are also available to students like Badminton, ball badminton, football, kabaddi etc.
The Placement cell was formed in the year 2008 to facilitate placements to students. A full-time placement officer is also employed on the campus. The placement cell has collaborations and signed MOUs with reputed companies which organize placement drive in the campus. The cell arranges interviews for final year students of different courses. Besides, this cell also arranges industrial training for students. WIPRO, Trident, WireDelta, Dev Solar, Unijet, Canny Controls, Intel, Aptech, Sify, Infonet, HR Cube, Frank Technologies, Simser Controls and Systems, GeoSystems India, D-CAD Technologies, Excel CNC Engineering and Consensus Technologies are the well-known companies that come for placement drive regularly. On average, almost 90% of the students get placed every year. The placement cell also provides career guidance to the students to improve their communication as well as presentation skills.
